Wildfire rips through Kern County

California wildfires continue to rage, with the Borel Fire tearing through 53,010 acres and the Park Fire incinerating over 350,000 acres.

Borel Fire Burns Through Kern County, California

In four days, the Borel Fire tore through 53,010 acres in Kern County, about 132 miles north of Los Angeles.

"According to InciWeb, 0% of the fire is contained."

  • KVPR reports that around 2,300 residents have been evacuated.
  • The fire has caused over $2.5 million in damages.
  • Multiple media outlets report the historic town of Havilah was leveled, but this hasn't been confirmed by the Kern County Fire Department.

California has also been dealing with the Park Fire, which burned 368,256 acres and is only 12% contained. A federal grant has been secured to aid in the response to this separate blaze, which displaced 3,500 people.
