Police Recover Body of 6-Year-Old Autistic Boy Who Vanished at a Maryland Park

Following an intensive 24+ hour search, Maryland police have recovered the body of 6-year-old Fawzan Hassan, who went missing from Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg on Saturday afternoon.
Fawzan, who was autistic and nonverbal, was on an outing with his family when he disappeared. The Montgomery County Department of Police led the extensive search, which ended on Sunday when community members spotted Fawzan's body in a pond at the park. The body was recovered and positively identified by the Montgomery County Police Managed Search Operations Team, with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Maryland Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause and manner of death.
