Several prominent Texas pastors have stepped down amid allegations of misconduct and abuse this year, with some facing criminal charges.

  • Robert Morris, former senior pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, confessed to sexual behavior with a child in the 1980s. Allegations were brought by Cindy Clemishire, now 54, who detailed abuse starting when she was 12, lasting over four years. Morris has not been charged but his lawyers blame Clemishire, saying she "initiated inappropriate behavior."

  • Luke Cunningham, a 41-year-old youth pastor from Lubbock, was arrested on sexual assault charges involving two teenagers, and indecency with a child. He was employed at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury before being fired for inappropriate conduct with a minor at a different church.

  • Ronald Goines, pastor at Koinonia Church in Arlington, was arrested in July on charges of indecent and sexual assault. He posted bail and was released.

  • Tony Cammarota, associate pastor at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, was fired for a "moral failure." The church cited his "sin" but provided no details, only stating he was "deeply remorseful."

  • Tony Evans, senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, resigned due to an unnamed 'sin'. Evans states he committed "no crime" but showed a lack of "righteous judgment." The church elders will hold him accountable but provided no details.

  • Josiah Anthony, pastor of Cross Timbers Church in Argyle, resigned over "inappropriate and hurtful" conduct towards church members and staff. The church clarifies it did not involve children or illegal activity.
