Remains of Missing Hiker Found in Utah Canyon, Partner Still Missing

A Pearland couple, Ray Ankofski, 58, and Maranda Ankofski, 50, were reported missing while hiking in Moab, Utah, on June 21. Nearly five weeks later, human remains identified as Maranda Ankofski were found in Millcreek Canyon, a popular Utah hiking trail.

The Grand County Sheriff's Office believes the couple was likely swept away in a flash flood. Before the remains were discovered, the only trace of them was a pair of pants clinched to a tree containing Ray Ankofski's wallet and ID.

Daughter's Plea

The Ankofskis' daughter, Ashlynn Ankofski, has set up a GoFundMe account to help fund additional resources in the search for her father:

"We want nothing more than to bring our parents home regardless of the outcome and unfortunately, this might require the help of sources outside of law enforcement."

As of July 30, she has raised $29,530.
