Amazon hit with huge product recall over safety hazard

A U.S. federal agency has ruled that Amazon must recall hundreds of thousands of defective products sold by third-party vendors. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said Amazon, as a distributor, did not notify the public or take steps to encourage returns/destroy hazardous items.

Amazon...did not provide sufficient notification to the public and did not take adequate steps to encourage its customers to return or destroy these hazardous items, thereby leaving consumers at risk of injury.

Items include kids' clothing, hairdryers, and carbon monoxide detectors. Amazon, which made $575 billion in 2023, argues it's not responsible for third-party sales. See full list and full ruling here.
