Trump attacks Harris' bar exam results.

Trump lies again: claims Harris didn't pass the bar. She was admitted in 1990.

During a intervista at the National Association of Black Journalists conference on Wednesday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump falsely claimed Vice President Kamala Harris failed the California bar exam.

She failed her bar exam. She did not pass her bar exam, so maybe she would not pass the cognitive test," Trump said. "She did not pass her bar exam, and she did not think she would pass it, and she did not think she would ever pass it, and I don't know what happened."

Trump made the comment in response to a question about whether he would step down if he felt unable to continue serving as president. He challenged Harris, whom he is 19 years older than, to a cognitive test.

Harris has openly discussed failing the bar exam on her first attempt, but she passed it the following year and was admitted to the California Bar in 1990. She went on to become a prosecutor and the state's Attorney General before being elected to the Senate and, ultimately, Vice President.

Trump's comment was part of a series of derogatory attacks on Harris during the interview, including questioning the authenticity of her heritage.

I didn't know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black," Trump said.

The former president also called ABC News moderator Rachel Scott "rude" for repeating the candidate's previous derogatory statements about the Black community.

Trump's interview, scheduled for an hour, was abruptly ended after less than 35 minutes.

While it is true that Harris initially failed the bar exam, she ultimately passed and went on to a successful legal career. The California bar exam is notoriously difficult, with a pass rate of around 50% in 1985 and 67% for first-timers in 2020.
