A routine traffic stop in Texas took an unusual turn when deputies discovered drugs stashed inside Buc-ee's beaver plush toys.

"Deputy Cody Williams pulled over a San Antonio man around 1 a.m. on Interstate 10. During the stop, the driver consented to a search, and Deputy Williams detected the odor of marijuana. The source of the smell? Buc-ee's beaver plushies in the backseat, which had been carefully restitched to hide marijuana and ecstasy. This is a first for us!"

The driver, 47-year-old Lugene Davis Jr., complained of chest pains and was taken to a local hospital. Over two pounds of marijuana were seized, and a warrant will be issued for Davis' arrest.

Buc-ee's, a beloved Texas convenience store chain with a beaver mascot, has become a Lone Star state icon. Its new mega-travel center in Luling, opened in June, solidifies its larger-than-life reputation. But this seizure reveals a darker side: criminals are exploiting this iconic symbol for their nefarious purposes.
