Texas Traffic Stop Unveils Drugs in Buc-ee's Beaver Plushies

A routine traffic stop in Texas took an unexpected turn when officers discovered drugs hidden inside Buc-ee's beaver plush toys. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office reported that on Wednesday around 1 a.m., Deputy Cody Williams pulled over a San Antonio man on Interstate 10. With the driver's consent to search the vehicle, Williams followed the scent of marijuana to the backseat, where Buc-ee's beaver plushies raised suspicion.

Tracing the smell to Buc-ee's beaver plushies in the backseat, Williams felt packaging inside and noticed they had been re-stitched.

The Deputy's discovery led to a unique smuggling attempt, as he found marijuana and ecstasy hidden within the beloved Texas mascot. The driver, 47-year-old Lugene Davis Jr., complained of chest pains and was transported to a local hospital by emergency services.

Officials report the drugs, including over two pounds of marijuana, were seized and a warrant will be issued for Davis' arrest.

This incident marks a "first" for the Texas-based convenience store chain, known for its iconic beaver merchandise, and a reminder that even the most innocent-looking items can conceal illicit activities.
