Heat Wave Grips US: "Dangerous, Oppressive"

As of Friday, 104 million Americans are sweltering under heat warnings and advisories, with high heat index values reaching up to 109°F.

As predicted, the summer heat is taking a toll on the US, with the Southeast and Central regions bearing the brunt. This week marks the fifth heatwave for many, with extreme heat risk levels forecasted.

Western Front & Wildfires

Out West, temperatures are a scorching anomaly, with the NWS reporting 100s in the Northwest. The heat raises wildfire risks, with the National Interagency Fire Center warning of "above normal" fire conditions ahead.

The Park Fire rages in California, with 5,700 personnel battling the blaze. Colorado's Stone Canyon Fire also threatens homes and critical infrastructure.
