Tropical storm watches/warnings likely as system moves toward Gulf of Mexico

According to the National Hurricane Center, Invest 97L is poised to enter the eastern Gulf, with the latest models indicating a potential track toward Florida.

"Residents from Louisiana to Florida's West Coast have to be ready in case it rapidly intensifies," – AccuWeather lead long-range expert Paul Pastelok.

The threat to Texas is minimal, with the storm expected to make landfall on Florida's peninsula Saturday.

Invest 97L is likely to become a tropical depression and then Tropical Storm Debby, the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
