Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Admits to Decade-Old Central Park Mystery

A decade-long mystery has been solved, as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. admits in a bizarre video to placing a dead bear cub in New York City's Central Park in 2014.

The Setup

Kennedy, currently running as a third-party candidate for president, shared a video Sunday with actor Roseanne Barr, explaining:

I was on my way to go falconing in the Hudson Valley... a van in front of me hit [the bear cub] and killed it... I picked it up and put it in the car. I was gonna skin it and put its meat in my refrigerator... but then I had a dinner in the city, and the dinner ran late and I had to get to the airport.

The Stunt

Kennedy and his dinner companions then devised a plan:

We thought it would be amusing for whoever found [the bear]... so we put it in the park and made it look like it got hit by a bicycle. This was the little bit of redneck in me... The next day, it was on every television station, it was the front page of every paper.

The Cover-Up

Kennedy reveals that the story almost blew over when police announced they were taking the bicycle up to Albany to be fingerprinted:

Luckily, the story died down... and it stayed dead for a decade.

The Motive

Kennedy captioned the video, tagging the publication: "Looking forward to seeing how you spin this one," suggesting a pre-emptive strike against a story by The New Yorker, who he claims had discovered the truth.

The Twist

In a strange twist, it was revealed that the original reporter on the story, Tatiana Schlossberg, is Kennedy's second cousin, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy. Schlossberg reported the bear's cause of death as "blunt force injuries consistent with a motor vehicle collision" according to a necropsy by New York's Department of Environmental Conservation.

Schlossberg told the New York Times that she, "had no idea who was responsible" when she wrote the story.

Looking Back

Despite the potential legal consequences, Kennedy reflects on the stunt with amusement, highlighting the media attention it received. His admission, however, raises questions about privilege, influence, and the impact of such actions on investigative resources.
