Royall Elementary School in South Carolina apologizes for a now-deleted Facebook post showing staff dressed as U.S. Border Patrol agents in front of a makeshift wall. The original post, shared on July 31, was for the school's "Royall Cantina" event, with most staff wearing sombreros and bright clothing. However, two employees wore "U.S. Border Patrol" shirts, sparking backlash.

"It is with regret that we acknowledge that a picture... showed an insensitive disregard for the current challenges our Hispanic population faces... At Royall, we take great pride in our long-standing tradition of embracing and supporting every student." Royall Elementary Facebook post

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Richard O’Malley said:

“As superintendent, I will not tolerate anything of this nature in our school district... I want to assure the Royall Community that the school will continue to provide an exceptional education for all students.” Florence One Schools Superintendent Richard O’Malley

Several staff are no longer employed or placed on leave due to the incident, which occurred during a professional development day. WMBF
