The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a tragic car crash that occurred on the evening of August 5 in Belle Glade, Florida, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals and seriously injuring one more.
At approximately 7:29 p.m., the SUV, a 2023 Ford Explorer, traveled westbound on Hatton Highway, failing to make a left turn and crashing into a canal. Four passengers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, and six were transported to trauma centers, where five succumbed to their injuries.
Capt. Tom Reyes of the Fire Rescue confirmed the involvement of five children and five adults in the crash. The survivor, a 26-year-old man, remains in serious condition.
The identities of those lost in this tragedy have not been released, and the sheriff's office is actively investigating the cause of the crash, calling it a "heartbreaking incident."
