Texas Man Jailed for 40 Years for Wife's Murder

A gruesome crime scene leads to a conviction and a long prison sentence.

Waller County, TX - Jared James Dicus, 23, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the brutal murder of his wife, Anggy Diaz, 21. The couple married in October 2022, just months before the horrific crime.

On January 11, 2023, Discus’ parents called 911 reporting a death on their property in a cabin behind their home near Magnolia, TX. A "gruesome scene" awaited authorities as they discovered Diaz had been decapitated and dismembered, suffering multiple stab wounds.

"A portion of the body was dismembered, and the residence was covered in blood. Gruesome scene at best," Sheriff Troy Guidry

Dicus was detained and confessed to the murder. With a history of domestic violence and previous threats to police, his motive remains undisclosed, but potential mental health issues were raised during pre-trial. Dicus was deemed competent, and his violent history led to an increased bond of $1M.

The trial concluded on July 31, and Dicus is ineligible for parole until 2043.
