Texas Children's Hospital has announced #layoffs affecting 5% of its staff. The hospital, ranked #3 in the US, has been rapidly #expanding in Central Texas in recent years, with urgent care, specialty clinics, and a new $485M hospital in North Austin.

Despite this growth, the hospital is facing financial troubles, citing a $200M income loss in the first half of its fiscal year due to a delay in the Austin hospital opening and lower patient volume in Houston. Executive VP and CHRO, Linda Aldred, confirmed the workforce reduction could result in approximately #1,000_jobs_lost worldwide.

It has been a longtime goal of mine to continue the incredible mission of our founders and expand access to Texas Children’s high-quality level of care to families throughout Texas — Texas Children's Hospital CEO, Mark A. Wallace

No comment has been made on whether the South Austin hospital, promised as part of their Austin expansion, will be impacted by these layoffs.
