A tropical wave that originated east of the Windward Islands over the weekend continues to produce showers and thunderstorms with minimal changes in development, according to the latest National Hurricane Advisory.

As of Tuesday morning, the tropical disturbance is headed towards Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, the same region hit by Hurricane Beryl before it struck Texas early last month.

"Any development of this system should be slow to occur during the next couple of days while it moves westward over the central Caribbean Sea," the latest advisory states. "Environmental conditions are expected to become more conducive for development later this week as the system moves across the western Caribbean Sea or the southern Gulf of Mexico."
