Cash App to Pay Out $15 Million in Damages for Data Breach

Cash App (https://cash.app/) users, listen up! You could be owed some serious cash if you've been affected by their data breach...

According to a class-action lawsuit, plaintiffs accused Cash App Investing and Block Inc. of "failure to exercise reasonable care in securing and safeguarding consumer information."

The breach, which occurred in December 2021, resulted in the personal information of 8.2 million users being exposed and accessed by unauthorized individuals, including a former employee.

If you had funds taken without your permission, listen up:

"If users had unauthorized or fraudulent withdrawals or transfers of funds from their Cash App account between Aug. 23, 2018, and Aug. 20, 2024, they are eligible to submit a claim for up to $2,500." [Cash App website] (https://cashappsecuritysettlement.com/home)

What You Need to Know:

  • To file a claim, you must have had an account during the period specified above.
  • You cannot have been reimbursed already by any of the responsible entities or third parties.
  • You can claim for out-of-pocket losses, lost time, and transaction losses, with potential payouts of up to $2,500.
