Large Fire Breaks Out at East Austin Metal Recycling Plant

A large fire has broken out at a metal recycling plant in East Austin, according to the Austin Fire Department (post). The blaze was reported after 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Austin Metal and Iron Company, located at 10506 Decker Lane (city records).

"No patients have been treated or transported, but we will likely remain onsite to assist firefighters," - Captain Christa Stedman, an Austin-Travis County EMS spokesperson, referring to the excessive heat which could cause injuries or dehydration.

Travis County ESD 12 and the Pflugerville FD are managing the fire, with support from Austin FD. No official statement has been provided by Travis County ESD 12 or Pflugerville FD at this time.
