Powerless in Ohio.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland will deploy teams to assess damage following Tuesday's storm.

Nearly 300,000 people in northeast Ohio woke up to darkness on Wednesday, as severe weather—including potential tornadoes—ravaged the region, causing widespread power outages.

The National Weather Service (@NWSCLE) says: "Teams are being sent out to survey the extensive damage from yesterday's storm."

Forecasters are also asking people to report any damage or flooding.

OUTAGE UPDATE: As of 10:15 am ET, around 334,000 customers are without power. Here's a breakdown of the outages by county:

THE CAUSE: Tornado warnings were issued on Tuesday, with potential tornadoes touching down in several areas, including Masury, Brookfield, Yankee Lake, and several locations around Cleveland.

THE FORECAST: Some good news—the weather is expected to improve today. Mostly cloudy skies with glimpses of sunshine are predicted, and temperatures will be cooler, with highs in the 70s.
