Tropical Disturbance Unlikely to Develop into Storm as it Heads towards Yucatan Peninsula

A tropical wave producing disorganized showers in the Caribbean Sea is headed towards Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. While the chances of it developing into a larger storm are low, it bears watching as the region is still recovering from Hurricane Beryl.

It's becoming more unlikely that the disturbance will develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm.

The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season has already seen four named storms:

  • Tropical Storm Alberto
  • Hurricane Beryl
  • Tropical Storm Chris
  • Hurricane Debby

Texas, in particular, was hit hard by Alberto and Beryl, with Beryl making landfall in the Yucatan Peninsula before heading to Texas.
