Uvalde Releases Heartbreaking 911 Call from Uncle of Gunman Who Killed 19 Fourth-Graders

The uncle of the Uvalde school gunman desperately pleaded with a 911 dispatcher to let him speak with his nephew, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, as the massacre was unfolding. In an emotional call, Armando Ramos offered to try and reason with his nephew, saying "maybe he could listen to me... everything I tell him, he does listen to me."

Unfortunately, the call came too late. Law enforcement had already fatally shot Ramos, who killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary School. The heartbreaking 911 call was released by the city of Uvalde, along with other disturbing documents and body-camera footage, as part of an agreement with media outlets.

"Oh my God, please don't do nothing stupid." – Armando Ramos, speaking as if pleaing with his nephew during the 911 call

In the call, logged at 12:57 PM on May 24, 2022, the dispatcher took down Armando's information and asked if Salvador had been with him that morning. Armando explained that his nephew had been staying with his grandmother, who he felt had been pestering him. Despite this, he emphasized that Salvador's behavior hadn't changed.

After being on hold for several minutes, Armando was informed that an officer would be in touch. The call provides a glimpse into the frantic and tragic moments as loved ones tried in vain to intervene.
