Uvalde releases body camera footage, calls, and texts from Robb Elementary shooting

The city of Uvalde released new records on Saturday from the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School, including body camera footage, dashcam video, 911 calls, text messages, and redacted documents. This marks the largest disclosure of information since the shooting in May 2022, which left 19 fourth graders and two teachers dead.

"The bloodbath inside of the classrooms...is [the] worst mass shooting at an educational institution in Texas history."

The records are being released as part of a legal settlement with media outlets, including the Austin American-Statesman [https://www.statesman.com], and their parent company, Gannett.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is still facing a lawsuit from 14 news organizations, including the American-Statesman, demanding the release of additional records, including footage from the scene and internal investigations. Despite a judge ruling in favor of the news organizations in March, the DPS has not released the records due to objections from the Uvalde County District Attorney.

A state district judge ordered the Uvalde school district and sheriff's office to release records related to the shooting in June, but the release is pending while the matter is under appeal.

Surveillance video footage obtained by the American-Statesman and KVUE [https://www.kvue.com] shows heavily armed officers from various agencies congregating in the hallway outside the classroom but failing to act for 77 minutes, even after additional shots were heard.

The truth must be told. The people of Uvalde, and all Americans, deserve answers and accountability.
