A California man, Jing Tang Li, 32, was arrested on Thursday and charged with possession and distribution of methamphetamine. The United States Attorney's Office alleges that Li was connected to a shipment of over 2,000 pounds of the drug, intended for Australia.

"Methamphetamine devastates our community. We see the misery of highly addictive drugs daily... it is imperative we hold drug traffickers responsible," stated U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada.

According to AP News, the drugs were deceptively packaged and labeled for shipment. The Justice Department's press release states that the incident occurred in 2023, with an investigation ongoing by Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, and the Australian Federal Police. Li faces a potential 10-year sentence if convicted.
