Perseid Meteor Shower Illuminates Skies Across The Globe

The Perseids, considered by astronomers as the top meteor display of the year, peaked Sunday night, offering skygazers a stunning cosmic show.

"It provided quite the celestial show to skygazers across the world"

The spectacle, visible worldwide, included a rare coincidence: the northern lights, usually only seen near the Earth's poles, made an appearance simultaneously with the meteor shower.

While the Perseids are active annually from July through September, mid-August is typically when it peaks. Luckily, those who missed the display on Sunday night still had a chance to view it on Monday, according to the American Meteor Society.
