Police Officer Killed in Freak Accident on I-35W

Fort Worth police Sgt. Billy Randolph was killed by a vehicle Monday while responding to a fuel spill. This is yet another tragic reminder of the dangers police officers face while performing their duties and the importance of prioritizing their safety. We must demand better from our government and communities to protect those who serve and protect us.

Texas Police Officer Dies in the Line of Duty, the 9th in the State This Year

Fort Worth, Texas — A tragic loss for the Fort Worth Police Department as Sgt. Billy Randolph was struck and killed by a vehicle while responding to a fuel spill early Monday.

"A tractor-trailer hit a guardrail ... The vehicle caught on fire and spilled fuel."

Sgt. Billy Randolph, a 29-year veteran of the FWPD, is the 9th Texas officer to die in the line of duty this year and the 88th across the US.

The driver of the vehicle is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
