Ford has issued a [do-not-drive advisory](https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2024/08/13/ford-issues-do-not-drive-advisory-open-takata-recalls.html#:~:text=As%20a%20result,%2095%25%20of%20U.S.%20owners..., https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2024/08/13/ford-issues-do-not-drive-advisory-open-takata-recalls.html#:~:text=As%20a%20result%2C%2095%25%20of,2005-2014%20Ford%20Mustang%20vehicles) for owners of certain vehicles with Takata non-desiccated airbag inflators who haven't had them repaired under past recalls: 15S21, 17S42, and 19S01.
This is the second Takata-related do-not-drive advisory from Ford, meant to encourage immediate repairs.
Affected Vehicles:
- 2004-2006 Ford Ranger trucks
- 2005-2014 Ford Mustang
- 2005-2006 Ford GT
- 2006-2012 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln MKZ / Zephyr
- 2007-2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX
- 2007-2011 Ford Ranger
Why a Do-Not-Drive Advisory?
Age has made it "increasingly possible" for a part in the airbag to explode, potentially injuring or killing drivers/passengers.
What to Do:
- Ford offers parts, mobile service, and dealership repairs with free loaners.
- Visit www.ford.com/support/recalls/ or nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your vehicle is affected.
- Ford continues monthly notifications to known owners.
Approximately 374,300 Ford and Lincoln airbag inflators are impacted in the U.S., with 765,600 affected globally.
