Four Family Members Killed in Texas Street Racing Crash, Police Say

Grand Prairie, Texas — Four family members traveling in an SUV were killed after being struck by a suspected street racer on Saturday evening. A fifth family member survived but remains in critical condition.

At approximately 8 p.m., a red Dodge Charger driven by 20-year-old Jaime Mesa was "traveling at a high rate of speed" while racing a white vehicle, according to the Grand Prairie Police Department. While turning left, the Charger collided with a Chevy Traverse SUV.

Three SUV occupants died at the scene, and a fourth succumbed to their injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital. The fifth victim, 17-year-old Anthony Rosales, is currently in critical condition.

Mesa was arrested and charged with multiple counts, including manslaughter and aggravated assault. The driver of the white vehicle, 22-year-old Anthony Morales, fled the scene but was later apprehended and faces similar charges.

"This sweet sibling group has a long hard road ahead of them physically, emotionally, and financially."
