Salmonella: Mass Candy and Snacks Recall at Walmart and Target
The FDA has upgraded the recall of Palmer Candy. Salmonella risk has prompted the company to pull products from Dollar General, HyVee, Target, and Walmart shelves.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a Class I recall for approximately two dozen candy and snack products sold at major retailers, including Target and Walmart, due to potential salmonella contamination. The products, manufactured by Palmer Candy Co., have best-by dates up to April 2025. The recall was originally initiated on May 6, as the white candy coatings on pretzels, cookies, and other snacks may be contaminated.

Salmonella is a serious bacteria that can contaminate food when handlers do not maintain proper hygiene and sanitation. It poses a significant risk to young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include bloody diarrhea, high fever, stomach cramps, vomiting, and dehydration, and can last up to seven days.
