Texas Man Charged With Attempted Murder of 4-Month-Old Son

Paris, Texas — A Texas man, Edgar James Bridgemon, 24, has been arrested and charged with attempted capital murder and evading arrest after allegedly giving his 4-month-old son gasoline to drink.

Bridgemon admitted to having given the infant gasoline to drink with the intention of ending the child’s life — Police statement

On Saturday, August 10, emergency services were called to a home on Pine Bluff Street, where Bridgemon admitted to his gruesome act. He then attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended.

The infant was transported to a local hospital by Paris medics and later transferred to a Dallas facility for specialized care. The child's condition is currently unknown.

Bridgemon is now behind bars at Lamar County Jail, held on a $255,000 bond.
