Texas ranked No. 4 in AP preseason poll. For 59th time since 1950, Longhorns appear in AP's first poll of football season. But how often are these predictions correct?

"This is a great honor for our program and a testament to the hard work our team has put in," said Texas head coach Mack Brown. "We know there are high expectations, and we plan to work even harder to meet them."

Of the previous 58 times Texas made AP's preseason poll, UT finished within 5 spots of their initial ranking 24 times. Voters guessed correctly 4 times.

In 1953, '82, 2001, and 2009, Texas' final ranking matched their preseason position #11, #17 , #5 and #2 respectively.

Can Texas live up to the hype this year? Time will tell.
