Man sues Buc-ee's after tripping over rope tied to inflatable beaver mascot, lawsuit says

Richard E. Brown of Kershaw County, SC, is suing the gas station/convenience store chain Buc-ee's after he allegedly tripped over a rope tied to a large inflatable beaver mascot, causing him to fall and sustain injuries. The incident occurred at a Buc-ee's location in Florence County, according to a [lawsuit](https://www. Florencecountyclerkofcourt.com/PublicAccess/Search.aspx) filed on Aug. 1.

Brown's Claims and Allegations:

"Physical pain, suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, and impairment of health and bodily efficiency..."

Brown claims that the fall resulted in significant injuries, particularly to his right shoulder, incurring medical expenses and causing mental anguish.

Negligence and Hazardous Condition:

The lawsuit alleges that Buc-ee's was negligent in maintaining the sidewalk and protecting the public from hazards. The suit also claims that the store was aware of the rope's dangerous condition but failed to take appropriate action, demonstrating careless and reckless behavior.

"The defendant had actual and/or constructive knowledge of the dangerous condition..."

Financial Damages:

The court documents did not specify the amount of financial compensation Brown is seeking. Buc-ee's has not publicly responded to the lawsuit at this time.
