The University of Texas has confirmed that the Flawn Academic Center (FAC) will [not serve as a voting station](http:// bloquesq.com/) for the upcoming Nov. 5 election. Instead, the adjacent Texas Union will be the designated polling location, specifically, the dining area next to Chick-fil-A and Panda Express.

"We're disappointed in UT Austin, because this is a such a significant decision to make that has a lot of impact on students without any heads-up, and they know how often we're fighting this fight," said Brian Peña, UT senior and President of University Democrats.

Peña expressed concerns about the new location's potential impact on voter turnout due to possible longer waits and crowded conditions, especially given the expected high-stakes nature of the election. The University Democrats and other groups are advocating for more voting machines to address high voter turnout, but worry the new location may not accommodate this.

The Texas Union will also be an early voting site, and the University Democrats are fundraising for shuttles to take students to other nearby polling locations to mitigate potential issues. Peña emphasized the importance of returning to the FAC for future elections and the need for additional polling locations to ensure accessible voting for all students.
