Texas Soccer Set to Kick Off Season, Faces Houston at Home

Texas soccer hosts Houston at Myers Stadium tonight at 7 p.m. CT; the match marks the UT athletic department's inaugural event as a member of the Southwestern Conference.

Texas, ranked 17th by the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, starts strong with six returning players who scored in the team's 6-1 win against Houston last year. Houston, meanwhile, looks to improve upon their 8-8-2 record from 2023.

Texas coach Angela Kelly has overseen 12 season openers, leading the team to an 8-3-1 record in those games. The program's best season opener was a 12-0 triumph over Pittsburgh in 1996, while the worst was a 9-2 defeat to No. 1 North Carolina in 2000.
