Texas Street Racing Crash Kills Four Family Members

Four Dead, One Critical: A Texas family was decimated by a street race last Saturday in Grand Prairie, TX, tragically killing four members of the Rosales family: Jessie, Lorena, Stephanie (13), and Angel (6). Per local news outlet WFAA, the fifth family member, 17-year-old Anthony Rosales, remains in critical condition, and a GoFundMe for the family has raised over $68,000.

The Crash: Two drivers, Jaime Mesa (20) and Anthony Morales (22), were street racing in separate Dodge Chargers at high speeds when Mesa's car collided with an SUV carrying the Rosales family. The impact forced the SUV into a gas station parking lot, where it caught fire, killing three family members instantly. Police charged Mesa with four counts of manslaughter and racing-related charges. Morales initially fled but was apprehended and charged with racing-causing-death.

Witness Accounts: Onlookers described a harrowing scene, with Good Samaritans pulling Mesa from his car, and others recounting screams from the vehicles and the "craziest day" of their lives. Ashik Maharzan, who worked at the gas station, said: "I heard a big bang... I saw two people flying out of the window... That fire was in my mind for a couple of hours."

The Investigation Continues: Grand Prairie Police continue their investigation, with Mesa and Morales facing serious charges. Grand Prairie, a suburb of Dallas, has seen a recent uptick in street racing, with deadly consequences.
