Tim Walz says JD Vance wrote the foreword for Project 2025's architect. It's true.

In his first speech as the Democratic VP candidate, Tim Walz attacked his GOP opponent, JD Vance, claiming Vance wrote the foreword for Project 2025's architect.

"J.D. Vance literally, literally wrote the foreword for the architect of the Project 2025 agenda," Walz said Aug. 6 in Philadelphia.

Project 2025 is a 900-page manual by the Heritage Foundation, offering detailed policies for the next Republican administration. While the Trump-Vance campaign distances itself from Project 2025, Vance wrote the foreword for "Dawn's Early Light," a book by Heritage Foundation President Kevin D. Roberts. Roberts is considered a leader of Project 2025 by major media outlets, and his book's original subtitle referenced "Burning Down Washington." Vance praised Roberts and the book on X, and the two have mutual friendly regard.

Walz's claim is backed by evidence, including Vance's own words. PolitiFact rates this claim as True.
