Sheriff's Office Searches for Missing Swimmer in Lake Travis

The Travis County sheriff's office is searching for a swimmer who went missing in Lake Travis on Saturday evening. The swimmer disappeared after jumping off a cliff, according to spokesperson Kristen Dark.

"Deputies were called to the 19800 block of Lakehurst Loop in Spicewood at 5:50 p.m. Saturday," Dark said. "Witnesses reported that a man jumped from a cliff and did not resurface."

Within an hour, a rescue operation turned into a recovery mission. Deputies searched until nightfall on Saturday and resumed their efforts on Sunday morning.

As of Monday morning, the recovery mission was still ongoing. Deputies are using a variety of methods, including shoreline, surface, and aerial searches, as well as sonar and a remotely operated underwater camera, to try and locate the unidentified man.
