The Democratic National Convention began on Monday with a historic moment as President Joe Biden handed the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris, officially making her the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota will join Harris on the ticket as her running mate.
With only three days left, the DNC has already witnessed several significant moments. One of the highlights was the speech delivered by former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton, who energized the crowd. The brief appearance of Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., a iconic civil rights leader and former presidential candidate, also received a standing ovation. Jackson, 82, who uses a wheelchair after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2017, waved and gave a thumbs-up to the audience but did not speak.
