Texans, Prepare for a Steamy Autumn: Farmers' Almanac Predicts Warmer-Than-Usual Fall

If the Farmers' Almanac is to be believed, Texans better get ready for a toasty season ahead. The almanac predicts "warmer-than-average" temperatures across the state this fall, with the western half of the country seeing particularly high temperatures.

While the almanac forecasts above-average temperatures, the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center offers a similar outlook, predicting higher temperatures and average precipitation for Texas.

The Farmers' Almanac, with its long history of weather prediction since 1818, states that its readers find its forecasts accurate 80% to 85% of the time. So, Texans, brace yourselves for a warm autumn, and don't be surprised if you're feeling like you're in a pressure cooker!

Fall 2024 Weather Insights:

  • Western US Heats Up: From Wisconsin and Illinois westward, including Texas, above-average temperatures are expected.
  • Precipitation Relief: Most of Texas is forecast to have above-normal precipitation, except for far West Texas and the Panhandle.

  • Season Dates: Fall begins on Sept. 22 and ends on Dec. 20.
