Patti LaBelle Performs at DNC as Democrats Gather in Chicago

Legendary singer Patti LaBelle took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, on Tuesday, as the party gathers to nominate Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election.

LaBelle delivered a moving performance of "You Are My Friend" during the "In Memoriam" segment, honoring departed members of the Democratic Party, including former California Senator Dianne Feinstein, former First Lady Rosalyn Carter, and former Maine Governor Joseph Brennan.

The four-day convention, themed "For the People, For Our Future," features a keynote address by former President Barack Obama and will culminate with VP Harris formally accepting the nomination on Thursday.

The DNC is being livestreamed on USA TODAY's YouTube channel and can be viewed on the convention's website from the United Center nightly. With Chicago as the host, this marks the 11th time the city has welcomed the Democratic Convention, previously hosting it in 1996 when Bill Clinton was renominated.
