Inflatable slide takes flight in Alabama thunderstorm

A video captures the terrifying moment strong winds swept an inflatable slide through the air during a severe thunderstorm in Hillsboro, Alabama, on Saturday, August 17. [Video]

Adults run towards safety as a woman clutches a child close, dodging debris. A massive rainbow blow-up slide, a familiar sight at children's events, tumbles across the field. "Oh my goodness," a man exclaims, while others scream.

The slide soars over a truck and a building, with scattered remnants of the event—plastic tables, a basketball hoop—left in the wake.

"[The children] were taken off two minutes before this happened," said Joshua Cofield, the videographer. Fortunately, no one was harmed, although a tent collapsed, resulting in minor scrapes.
