Savannah, Ohio — Three people face charges after a 6-year-old boy was hospitalized over the weekend when authorities said he was handcuffed and attacked by a pit bull.

On Saturday, Ashland County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a brutal attack on a child in Savannah, located ~50 miles west of Akron. The victim, who was in a serious condition, was airlifted for treatment.

Investigators discovered the child had been handcuffed, and that a pit bull had attacked him. They also found the mother of the child lived at the address with a relative of the homeowner, who owned the dog.

"The homeowner and his pet were not at the scene when deputies arrived but were later found hiding in a cubby hole upstairs at the residence." – Ashland County Sheriff's Office

The homeowner and the mother's boyfriend, who allegedly assisted in restraining the boy, were arrested. The boy's mother was also taken into custody. Charges are pending. The dog was seized and labeled vicious.
