Ohio Woman Arrested for Stomping and Eating Cat

An Ohio woman was arrested after allegedly stomping a cat to death and eating it in public.

The 27-year-old woman was charged Wednesday with cruelty to companion animals, according to Stark County court records.

Canton police arrested the woman on Aug. 16 after they received reports of her killing and consuming a cat in a "residential area in front of multiple people," as stated in an arrest report obtained by USA TODAY.

During her arraignment on Monday, the suspect's bond was set at $100,000, as reported by WKYC. Her next hearing is scheduled for Friday, according to court records.

USA TODAY could not reach Ferrell's defense attorney on Thursday.

Woman Seen Eating Cat with Smashed Head

On the day of the incident, Canton police responded to a complaint about a woman who "had killed a cat and was eating it." Upon arrival, officers found a woman with her hands on a cat "which appeared to have its head smashed in," according to an investigative report.

Blood was observed on the woman's feet, hands, and fur was on her lips, the report said.

After arresting the suspect and taking her to Stark County jail, officers secured the "cat as evidence," police said.

It remains unclear who the cat belonged to.
