'Scandal' Stars Reunite at Democratic National Convention

"Olitz" fans were thrilled to see Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn reunite on stage at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday night.

Washington, known for her role as Olivia Pope in Shonda Rhimes' political drama "Scandal," spoke to endorse Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and encourage voting.

"As I stand here, I know that there are folks on social media already saying 'Go back to your TV show. Shut up and act.' But I am not here tonight as an actor. I am here as a mother, as a daughter, as a proud union member," Washington stated to a cheering crowd.

She continued, "I am here as the granddaughter of immigrants, as a Black woman descended from enslaved people. I am here tonight because I am an American and because I am a voter and because we, the people are stronger when all our voices are heard."

Washington and Goldwyn Take Video on Stage

After her speech, Goldwyn, who played President Fitzgerald Grant III, joined Washington on stage for a selfie video with the crowd.

"Are you ready for Kamala Harris to win?" Washington asked.

"Yes," the crowd roared.

"Good, because when Kamala wins, America wins," she said. "We did it, Joe."

Social Media Reacts to 'Scandal' Reunion

The reunion sparked excitement among "Scandal" fans online.

"Let me go re-watch Scandal cause it's giving NOSTALGIA," one fan wrote.

Another user added, "Olitz on #TGIT? The country needs it! I would be even more grateful if the rest of the gladiators made an appearance...and papa pope."

The co-stars, whose on-screen romance was intense and turbulent, have continued their playful banter on social media since the show ended. In June, Washington participated in the #BlackWifeEffect challenge, joking that she influenced Goldwyn's transformation, and used the opportunity to raise awareness about voter registration.

"Tony! I've upgraded your life in so many ways #BlackWifeEffect, and today I'm adding one more," Washington wrote in an Instagram post that included photos of Goldwyn before "Scandal." "Go upgrade your voter registration status to REGISTERED 😜. Love you!!!!!!"

"I’d be lost without you kw…🤣 Registering NOW!🙌❤️," Goldwyn commented.
