Great Value Apple Juice Recalled for Inorganic Arsenic Levels

If you purchase apple juice from Walmart, check your bottle's brand and details before drinking.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a voluntary recall for 9,535 eight-ounce bottles of Great Value Apple Juice, sold in six-packs with PET plastic bottles; UPC 0-78742-29655-5. The recall, number F-1746-2024, was issued on Aug. 15 due to inorganic arsenic levels exceeding industry guidance.

On Aug. 23, the FDA upgraded the recall to Class II, indicating potential temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.

The FDA states that long-term exposure to inorganic arsenic in adults is linked to skin disorders, increased risks of skin, bladder, and lung cancers, and cardiovascular disease. Short-term exposure can cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, bruising, and numbness or burning sensations in the hands and feet.
