Austin Police seek answers in fatal East Austin shooting
Austin police have yet to make arrests after a man was fatally shot in East Austin, officials announced Thursday.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on the 6300 block of Thurgood Avenue. Authorities discovered the victim with a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to Officer Jeremy Fisher, an Austin Police Department spokesperson.
Emergency services attempted life-saving measures but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"At this time, we have not identified or detained the shooter," Fisher said. Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and are interviewing multiple witnesses.
