Austin Police Investigate Downtown Homicide
Austin Police Department announced on Monday that they are investigating the homicide of a woman in downtown Austin.
Officers on patrol were alerted by a passerby to an alley near the 500 block of East Sixth Street and Neches Street after 1:30 a.m. Monday. They found an injured woman, according to Officer Jeremy Fisher, a spokesperson for the Austin Police Department. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
Fisher did not disclose specific details about the woman's injuries, stating it was not an "apparent trauma." The victim's age was not provided.
At the time of the news conference, police had detained and were questioning a person of interest. They were also canvassing the area for surveillance footage, Fisher said.
