Pflugerville Public Library's Pfab Lab Hosts Maker Market

The Pflugerville Public Library boasts a unique resource called the Pfab Lab, situated near the back of the adult area. Originally a computer classroom and once a staff kitchenette, the space now offers a wide range of equipment, including 3D printers, sewing and embroidery machines, laser cutters, and more. The lab aims to make technology accessible to library guests who might not otherwise have access.

The Pfab Lab operates twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, offering appointment slots for those who have attended a one-time training. Events like "Laser Cutter Craft" provide adults with a monthly craft project prepared by the laser cutters to inspire creativity.

Since its inception in 2017, the Pfab Lab has supported both personal projects and small business ventures. This entrepreneurial spirit led to the idea of a Maker Market, where local makers can sell their creations.

The library hosted its first Maker Market in June alongside Maker Pfest, which marks the start of the Summer Reading program. The event was a hit, and positive feedback has led to its return this month.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., the library's meeting rooms will host the Maker Market. Vendors will include:

  • Fae Atelier: Fall and Christmas scented candles, resin trinkets, and hair bows.
  • Kate's Brain: Whimsical and fun crocheted items.
  • Liz Volpi: Art prints, stickers, greeting cards, pins, and notebooks.
  • Diana D'Emeraude: Resin products and felt finger puppet kits.
  • KJ Designs: Polymer clay jewelry, hair accessories, wire-wrapped rings, dice bags, and polymer clay miniatures.
  • House of Dell: Acrylic earrings, tumblers, and mugs.
  • Dora's Treasure Box: Miscellaneous items like laser-cut earrings, old-fashioned koozies, bottle cap necklaces, and fairy headbands.
  • Crafty Mac Designs: Crochet and fused glass accessories and decor.
  • PfunFusing - Glass and Creative Arts: Button boxes, button bouquets, button pictures, fused glass items like ring bowls, knickknack dishes, sun catchers, hair clips, lapel pins, and heart charms.

Three young makers will also showcase their work. Each vendor sets their own prices and handles transactions.
