Barbara D. Hathaway

At the Oct. 8 meeting, the Bee Cave City Council received an update from the Capital Improvements Plan subcommittee regarding the new library building. The subcommittee is exploring cost-saving measures, including evaluating alternative sites, to reduce construction expenses. Once the subcommittee has a recommendation, it will be presented to the City Council for a public hearing and an official vote.

Meanwhile, the Bee Cave Library continues to offer award-winning programs, friendly service, and a community space for shared love of reading.

Rolling Sculpture Car Show to Benefit Library

The Rolling Sculpture Car Show is set for Sunday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hill Country Galleria, benefiting the Friends of Bee Cave Public Library. This family-friendly event will feature various collector cars, including sports cars, hot rods, and art cars.

Admission is free for spectators, with funds raised through sponsorships, registration fees, and sales of T-shirts and raffle tickets. This year's raffle item is a kid-size Lamborghini with remote control for parents. Since its inception in 2008, the event has raised $114,000, supporting the library's Summer Reading Program, Books and Bees Festival, and scholarships for teen volunteers.

Sponsors include Covert Bee Cave Buick GMC, All Star Burger, Benton Family Enterprises, Connor Harris State Farm Insurance, Jerry Dixon’s Automotive and Klassic Kar Center, QualTech Automotive-Bee Cave, and the Hill Country Galleria.

New this year is a "Trunk or Treat" for kids, sponsored by the city of Bee Cave, with live music from the Clutch Kings and celebrity announcer Bob Fonseca. The Bee Cave Farmers Market will also be present.

The next workshop will be announced early in 2025. The Bee Cave Public Library’s Family Place program was featured in the fall 2024 issue of "Children and Libraries."
