Tesla Unveils Cybercab Robotaxi, Promising Fully Autonomous Rideshares

Elon Musk introduced Tesla's new Cybercab robotaxi on Thursday, marking a significant advancement in self-driving rideshares.

The two-door models, revealed at Tesla's "We, Robot" event, lack steering wheels, gas pedals, and brake pedals. Musk claimed these vehicles would be "10 times safer than a human."

Last week, Musk revealed plans for a Tesla-operated autonomous ride service using customers' cars when idle, Reuters reported.

During Thursday's event, Musk stated that his autonomous vehicle initiatives could minimize parking needs and save personal time.

Cybercab Rollout Timeline

Musk first hinted at the Cybercab in 2019. At Thursday's event, he anticipated deploying self-driving features in Texas and California next year. Cybercab production is slated for 2026, along with a ride-share app akin to Uber and Lyft.

Cybercab Pricing

The vehicles are priced under $30,000. Ride costs remain unclear.
