Vice President Kamala Harris Embarks on Media Blitz

Since entering the presidential race in July, Vice President Kamala Harris had been relatively quiet with media outlets, opting instead for rallies with scripted speeches. However, that changed this week with a series of high-profile interviews.

'60 Minutes'

On Monday, Bill Whitaker of “60 Minutes” questioned Harris on tough topics, including immigration policies and the Biden-Harris administration's influence on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Harris discussed historic low unemployment, rating Half True due to modest rises since 2022-2023 lows. She also claimed a 50% reduction in fentanyl flow without additional details. Whitaker queried Harris about her Glock pistol, which she got due to her law enforcement background.

'The View'

Tuesday saw Harris on ABC’s "The View," where she praised President Joe Biden's accomplishments and railed against Trump. Hosts agreed when she mentioned Trump’s claim about “terminating the Constitution,” rated True. When asked about differing from Biden, Harris initially said, "There is not a thing that comes to mind," but later mentioned appointing a Republican to the Cabinet.

'Call Her Daddy'

Podcast "Call Her Daddy" focused on issues concerning young women, with Harris discussing her upbringing, values, and women’s health, including abortion. She highlighted restrictive abortion laws post-Roe v. Wade and repeated a True claim that 1 in 3 U.S. women of reproductive age live in states with abortion bans. Harris criticized Trump's stance on abortion, mentioning his remarks from 2016.

'The Howard Stern Show'

On Tuesday, Harris appeared on the Howard Stern Show, discussing her appreciation for Prince and breakfast cereal (Special K). She attacked Trump, claiming he suggested using bleach during COVID-19, rated Mostly False. Stern also discussed the Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity, with Harris criticizing Trump's potential weaponization of the Justice Department.

'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'

Harris appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where she criticized Trump and shared Miller High Life beers with the host. Addressing questions from "The View," Harris clarified, “I’m obviously not Joe Biden ... But also, I think it’s important to say, with 28 days to go, I’m not Donald Trump." She repeated a claim about teachers paying higher tax rates than billionaires, rated False.
